know your
status

In 2018, records showed that 37.9 million people globally are living with HIV. Nearly 1 in 5 people (about 240,000) don't know they are infected. Getting an HIV test can lead to getting the medical care needed to stay healthy longer. People who don't know they have HIV have a higher risk of serious medical problems and early death.

Today’s society makes it hard for anyone to go to the doctor, get tested, and wait with a friend for the results. MyStatus was designed to make an HIV test available to anyone at any time. The small MyStatus kit is available at vending machines and online shops, and with the MyStatus app you can talk to a qualified doctor and find out your results from home.

Supernova’s task was to develop the MyStatus brand, the kit, and a campaign that will catch both low-risk and high-risk demographics attention and convince them to get tested with the peace of mind of the autonomy that MyStatus offers. The challenge was to change the stigma around HIV and encourage people to get tested more often to prevent illnesses.

Two design concepts were proposed. Even though both were really liked the approved concept was concept 2 with minor changes.

the brand

logo

The MyStatus logo is made up of two typefaces. The “my” is a friendly rounded typeface with the “y” representing a smile whereas “status” is serious and structured to represent trust.

colours and

typefaces

We made the MyStatus colour blue, to present
a friendly and calm brand that you can trust.
To assure a sense of security and professionalism we chose Gotham typeface as the primary typeface for the MyStatus brand.

the MyStatus

icon

To create a memorable icon for the Mystatus brand we combined the three symbols that represent the MyStatus journey. Health, HIV status and Love.

key visuals

MyStatus’s aim is to reach people in public spaces anonymously. Being branding specialists this was a very challenging task to communicate important information anonymously. Using relatable photography, bold punchy headlines, and simple QR codes we could get our consumers to, curiously, scan the codes from a distance or whilst passing by to find out more about the HIV testing kit.

MyStatus
testing kit

The testing kit can be purchased online or at a vending machine in all major public spaces. The kit needed house the necessary tools to conduct the test in the comfort of your own home, through navigation through the downloadable app and unique code linked to your anonymous profile. The icon represented the recognisable branding without mentioning HIV on the outer packaging.
